A new benchtop XRF Coating Thickness Gauge has been launched, offering manufacturers and quality control labs a cost-effective, high-precision solution for measuring metal plating, electroplating, and coating thickness on various substrates. The instrument adopts Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) technology, enabling non-destructive analysis of up to 24 elements from fluorine (F) to uranium (U) in a single measurement.
Meeting Industry Demands for Accuracy and Flexibility
With the growing complexity of surface engineering and miniaturized components, traditional coating thickness testers often struggle with tiny measurement spots or uneven surfaces. The new XRF gauge solves these challenges with switchable collimators as small as 0.05 mm and a patented DCM (Distance Compensation Method) that maintains accuracy over a 0–25 mm working distance. This ensures stable results on curved, recessed, or irregularly shaped parts – from micro-connectors to automotive hardware.
Advanced Features for Laboratory and Production Use
The instrument is equipped with a tungsten target X-ray tube (three adjustable high-voltage levels: 30V, 40W, 50V) and a proportional counter detector. A high-resolution CCD color camera provides 40× to 160× magnification, with crosshair guidance and calibrated scale for precise positioning of the measurement point. The manual XY worktable supports samples up to 2 kg and 174 mm in height.
User-Friendly Software & Compliance
The gauge runs on WinFTM® software (LIGHT, BASIC, PDM, or SUPER versions), offering intuitive operation for coating thickness measurement and material composition analysis. It fully complies with DIN ISO 3497 and ASTM B 568 standards, and meets CE safety requirements as well as the German RöV X-ray regulations.
