Tip taps are also called spiral point taps. They are suitable for through holes and deep threads. They have high strength, long life, fast cutting speed, stable dimensions, and clear tooth patterns (especially fine teeth).

The effect of processing non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and ferrous metals is very good, and the spiral point taps should be preferentially used for through-hole threads.

On the machine tool without internal cooling facilities, the cutting speed can only reach 150sfm. The tap is different from most metal cutting tools because it has a very large contact area with the hole wall of the workpiece, so cooling is critical. The maximum processing speed is sometimes limited by the performance of the machine tool.

For smaller taps, if the spindle speed wants to reach the ideal speed,it may have exceeded the maximum spindle speed. On the other hand, high-speed cutting with a larger tap will produce a larger torque, which may be greater than the horsepower provided by the machine tool. With 700psi internal cooling tools, the cutting speed may reach 250sfm.
