High-Performance Full-Spectrum Spark Spectrometer for Precision Metal Analysis

The CX-9600 direct-reading spectrometer offers broad elemental coverage, fast analysis, and flexible software for ferrous metal industries.

MSK (Tianjin) Cutting Technology Co., Ltd., a company known for its precision carbide tools and ISO 9001-certified manufacturing, has expanded its analytical equipment line with the launch of the CX-9600 Full-Spectrum Spark Direct-Reading Spectrometer. Designed for metal material composition analysis, the new benchtop instrument targets quality control, melt verification, and scrap sorting applications across foundries, steel plants, and testing laboratories.

Wavelength range and optical design

The CX-9600 covers a broad wavelength range from 170 to 800 nm, utilizing multiple high-performance line-scan CCD detectors and a grating with 2400 l/mm density. Its pixel resolution reaches 12 pm with a spectral line dispersion of 1.5 nm/mm. The temperature-stabilized optical chamber maintains 34℃ ± 0.5℃, and the vacuum optical chamber system reduces argon consumption by eliminating real-time purging during idle periods. The instrument reaches stable operating condition in approximately 30 minutes.

Comprehensive iron matrix analysis

The spectrometer supports analysis of iron-based materials including low alloy steel, cast iron, Cr/Ni stainless steel, high manganese steel, high-chromium cast iron, Cr steel, high-speed tool steel, and Ni steel. Depending on the matrix, it can quantify elements such as carbon (0.0015-4.3%), silicon, manganese, chromium (0.001-32.1%), nickel (0.002-43.4%), molybdenum (0.001-9.5%), aluminum, copper, cobalt, titanium, vanadium (0.003-19.5%), tungsten (0.03-19%), and trace elements including lead, magnesium, boron, tin, and bismuth.

Software and data management

The instrument includes a suite of analysis software features: single-point or two-point calibration curve standardization, type calibration, repeatability checks, and automatic switching of analytical lines. Users can add new calibration curves and standard samples, apply internal standard and matrix correction, and define detection elements, display order, decimal places, and sample names. Results can be output as mass percentages, light intensity, or intensity coefficients, with statistical calculations (mean, standard deviation, relative standard deviation). Data storage supports multiple formats, manual or automatic transfer, and printing of individual or averaged results.

Built-in diagnostics and additional functions

The system monitors argon pressure, vacuum status, and spectral drift automatically. It includes an error log and allows comparison of stored spectra with current test data. Other features include a grade database with custom input, import/export via Excel, and user-defined formula input.

System specifications and availability

The CX-9600 operates on an AMD dual-core processor (64X2 5200+), 1GB DDR2 memory, 250GB hard disk, and a 19-inch LCD monitor. It supports a current range of 1-80A and frequency from 100 to 1000Hz, with 1200W average power and 70W standby power. The instrument is available for global shipment.
